Protect PDF: frequently asked questions
How strong is the protection?
AES-256 can’t be broken by guessing if your password is long and unique. Use at least 10 characters.
What if I forget the password?
It can’t be recovered. Keep an unprotected copy somewhere safe.
Is it safe for confidential files?
Your file is sent over HTTPS, encrypted on arrival with a key only your browser keeps, processed in an isolated sandbox, and deleted as soon as you download the result (at most one hour later). Files can be up to 20 MB.
Is it really free?
Yes. It’s free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit on the tools that run in your browser.
